Philippe Riera, a sea enthusiast and a Dauphine University graduate in Finance and Marketing, founded Gloria Maris in 1992. Driven by the belief that Corsica's pristine waters deserved recognition in the budding French marine aquaculture scene, he embarked on an ambitious endeavor. Starting with a modest 200-ton marine farm in the Gulf of Valinco, Campomoro, Gloria Maris quickly rose to become Corsica's most successful. By 2006, it became the second-largest French aquaculture farm, setting the stage for continuous growth.

The acclaim for its high-quality production secured investor support, enabling Philippe to further elevate Corsican marine aquaculture to a national benchmark. Expanding to sites like Palma d'Oro in Sardinia, Aquanord, EMG, France Turbot, and Trédarzec, Gloria Maris evolved into the Acquadea brand in Corsica in 2015. Across its three Corsican sites, the company produces 1000 tonnes of sea bass, sea bream, and salmon sea, all labeled for quality assurance.

Philippe Riera, a pioneer in the industry, remains dedicated to environmentally conscious and consumer-centric production. His leadership extends to initiatives like the Tanguy mission, addressing the challenges in France's aquaculture sector. Today, Gloria Maris Groupe stands as France's marine aquaculture leader and the foremost exporter of Corsican excellence.
